Animatic

Below is the animatic created by Tara for our music video. An animatic is a storyboard which has been made into an animation. They usually consist of a series of hand-drawn images that are sequenced in order of what will later be done in the actual video. Although the drawings are simple and basic, they still give a rough idea of the types of camera angles and shots that are likely to be used.

As well as providing a better sense of timing for the video, it also has a distinct advantage over a storyboard and that is the use of audio. The piece of music can be put to the animatic so that a better understanding of the length of shots can be made. A more sophisticated animatic may provide actual frames from ananimation assuming the music video contained animated sequences. It might include still shits as opposed to hand -drawn images but an animatic itself still offers a more clear idea of the desired outcome of the video.
