Initial Ideas

To help us decide on what song to use for our final music video, we chose six songs which we liked and discussed which ones were our favourites as a group.

Sub Focus - Out of the blue

Chase and Status - Alive

Calvin Harris - Blame

Klingande - Jubel

Duke Dumont - Won't look back

Sigma - Nobody to love

Sigma - Nobody To Love

Firstly I like the way this song starts off slow and then gradually gets faster. I also this believe this song gives off a vast number of ideas for a story behind it. The song varies in speed throughout which means the pace of the video would not have to be the same for the whole duration of the song which is helpful. I like the bright colours used in the video as they reflect the song well.

Duke Dumont - Wont Look Back

Firslty I like the filming and editing used in this video. The filming out the car window is very effective and so is the use of slow motion throughout. Also the use of masks is very effective as well as it adds a mysterious feel to the video. The song is very good as well I especially like the chorus where "wont look back" is repeated and I believe a new video could be produced to go behind the song.

Calvin Harris ft John Newman - Blame

Firstly, the video begins with slow panning shots to set the scene for the video. The first minute and a half of the video sets the scene before the song picks up speed. The editing is based on the speed of the song with longer shots being used in slow sections of the song and quick shots being used in the faster section of the song. The video has two stories to it with one being clips of people dancing in a club and the other the story line for John Newman which equates well with the lyrics. The special effects within the video enhance the story line.

Klingande - Jubel

This video takes on a similar concept to the sound of the song. The song is relaxed and has a summer vibe and so the video matches this. The concept of travelling with their friends on a road trip links well with the song and the editing is slow and most of the shots are in slow motion to give a more relaxed feel matching the speed of the song. The locations used within the video have been thought out well such as the beach nearer the end of the video. Also, the people within the video look happy and like they are having a good time and the song gives off this vibe when you listen to it so the video goes well with the song on the whole.

Sub Focus - Out Of The Blue

The first half of the video is filmed mainly underwater which links to the title of the song itself 'Out Of The Blue'. It is all filmed in slow motion which matches the speed of the song at first. when the song picks up the camera movement and editing etc changes accordingly. Halfway through the video a smoky effect of all different colours is used which changes the dynamics of the whole video. The lyrics of the song are 'love is a potion' and the smoky efect gives off an image of potions being made. this means the video is based on the lyics in order to tell the story better. There are various close ups within the video of a girl who is swimming underwater which creates a mystical effect adding to the mysteriousness of the video on the whole.

Chase and Status - Alive

This video is a very unique video as it has a story line throughout. At the beginning the song is slow as to which it is setting the scene which is a common feature in many music videos. The video uses flashbacks effectively to show the story line which is a feature which I really like and would hope to implement into my own music video.
