DigiPak Feedback

We thought that it was important for us to get feedback on our digipak as we have learnt with our other tasks that this gives you a true perception of how your target audience respond to your product. We recieved a lot of verbal feedback from classmates and teachers through the entire process of construction, which is one reason for our multiple drafts. Many people commented that they preferred albums that had a good quality image which looked professional over photos which were trying to convey some sort of artistic or political message. As our song has no particular political or controversial message within it, and focuses more on a the romantic feelings of one man, we agreed completely with the opinions of our peers and refrained from creating an image which was too controversial or had a bigger meaning behind it. One element which stayed promenant throughout the production process was that it had to be easy to read the back cover writing and had to have a complete overall professional and authentic aesthetic.

After the long journey we had to create our final digipak we decided to get some final feedback which would hopefully come back majoritively positive, but would provide us with ideas of how we could improve or ideas to take forward into future work.

Points that arose in our feedback multiple times included the high quality of the front cover photograph, as well as the link it had to the light used on the inside photo which shone directly at the camera, with one person saying "the lighting on the front cover works well with the light on the inside cover" and another saying that they "really liked the lighting on the front cover"

Other positive comments included aspects such as the brick background being used across the digipak, and the "lines on the front and back" linking both parts of the album together. These design features were purposely added to make it seem more authentic, and we are pleased that these elements were picked up on in the responses, for example in the "details look really professional because other cds have it"

However not every comment was positive as we encouraged our peers to be truthful in their opinions. The only reoccuring peice of feedback was that the brick background on the back of the cover, although it was favoured from a style point of view, made some words a little "hard to see". If we were to remake this digipak, this is definitely one aspect we would improve upon because it is a vital element of the back cover and was one of our initial points of importance when we began the creative process.

A topic which we recieved both positive and negative feedback on was the choice of outfit, with one classmates referring to the artists clothes as "too smart" and another adding to their comments that the "outfit and hair really matches the indie genre". Others also said how much they approved of the model in general, and with a greater number of good reactions to this topic, we have concluded that we are pleased with the choice of outfit we decided on.

Overall, we are grateful for the responses as it allowed us to evaluate the success of our digipak, and although there were points of improvement indicated to us, we feel that the majority approved of the design, and it would be placed well in the real media world.
