Song Choice Development

When we first started thinking about what typesof songs we wanted to use, we all agreed that we wanted to have a dance song. This way we could create an interesting narrative and have performance aswell. We could use quick cuts and interesting editing styles. However after dicussion between our group and our teacher we concluded that using a dance song, would actually end up looking more unprofessional as it is alot more difficult to make them look realistic. This is because we do not have access to settings such as clubs and hot countries.

Some of the song choices we considered to use were:

Chase and Status - Alive
Sigma - Nobody to love
Paloma Faith - Changing
Calvin Harris - Blame

Due to these issuses we concluded to start researching into different music genres.

After alot of detailed research when then decided tha our chosen genre was going to be indie rock. After searching through many favourites and many hates we concluded to three songs t choose from. We decided we prfered the indie rock gene, as you can create more intricate shots of the instruments and singers etc. Also we can have alot of band performance which again makes the video look alot more profressional and realsitic.

Our three choices were:

The Kooks - Naive
Paolo Nutini - Last Reuest
Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know?

After listening to all the songs and thinking through how each of the videos was going to turn out we decided that the best song choice out of the selection was going to be Paolo Nutini - Last Request. We believe this song has the most potential and therefore is going to be our chosen song choice.
